When bullshit artists fail to recognize their own bullshit, it sounds something like this crap which is taken from the latest edition of Comic Shop News:
Joe Quesada: "Now we’re looking at the Ultimate universe and saying,’What other doors can we open?’ Let’s get really kind of funky and crazy," he said. "I think you’ll see things in the Ultimate comics that we couldn’t do with other books."
Brian Bendis: "What is happening is we have a grand opportunity with the Ultimatum event to jump ahead a little bit. Just a little bit - not a lot. At the end of Ultimatum, there’s going to be a jump, and with that jump, we’re going to have a brand new Ultimate Spider-Man comic book … "
"Now we have an opportunity, with a little bit of a clean slate, to really dig in and introduce new characters and set up a new status quo that you don’t see in other Spider-Man books. But it is still a Spider-Man comic book. But show stories you haven’t seen before. It’s really a nice clean slate."
It’s been a few years, and Ultimate comics are supposed to be a gateway book. So here’s an opportunity to reinvest the Ultimate line as a gateway line."
"The first storyline is that you’re going to find out who Spider-Man is. You’re going to find out who the supporting cast is, and it will be different from who it was before Ultimatum… The new status quo will introduce new characters both hero and not-hero. Spider-Man’s relationship to the world will be different than you’ve ever seen in a Spider-Man title – any Spider-Man title."
Mark Millar: "The idea behind this relaunch remains the same, and I still believe in it utterly. If you pick up a Marvel or a DC book, generally speaking, you’re going to be kind of confused. If you’re somebody who really enjoys one of the movies, and you pick up a standard comic book, generally, those aren’t new reader friendly, but the Ultimate line just has that advantage – it’s just a few years old. As much as it has its own little continuity now, it’s still nothing compared to the 70 year continuity of Marvel Comics, so it’s not as daunting to pick up."
