Director Matthew Vaughn brings his vision of Marvel Comics uncanny mutants to theaters today with X-Men: First Class, starring James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Kevin Bacon, Rose Byrne, Oliver Platt, Jason Flemyng and this weeks lovely "Gal" Friday selection - January Jones (as Emma Frost aka The White Queen).
Set in 1963, as a younger Professor Charles Xavier starts up his school, and later team, for humans with superhuman abilities, alongside his best friend ... and future archenemy, Erik Lensherr (the young Magneto). The latest entry in the popular film franchise maintains a sense of continuity with previous X-films but continues the unfortunate practice of introducing major discrepancies with the X-Men comic books.
No doubt the movie will open to huge box office returns, but for the moment let's focus on one of the more pleasant looking performers in the class. For a real "eye-popping X-perience" click on the smaller image of Ms. Jones (above; left) and bask in her glory. She first made a name for herself in the currently delayed AMC television series, Mad Men, which is also set in the swinging 1960's. Maybe that's what got the attention of the studio behind X-M:FC?
