A Salute to Hanna-Barbera Studios

William Hanna and Joseph Barbera were basically the Lee & Kirby of television animation.

Just consider the cartoon "heroes" that these two gentlemen created: Space Ghost, Birdman, Dino Boy, The Herculoids, Jonny Quest, The Galaxy Trio, The Arabian Knights, Atom Ant, Blue Falcon & Dyno-Mutt, Frankenstein Jr., The Impossibles, The Mighty Mightor, Moby Dick, Samson & Goliath, Shazzan, etc.

And they didn't JUST do superheroes, their resume also includes classic animated stars like Augie Doggie and Doggie Daddy, Captain Caveman, The Flintstones, The Great Grape Ape, Hong Kong Phooey, Huckleberry Hound, Jabberjaw, The Jetsons, Magilla Gorilla, Pixie and Dixie, Quick-Draw McGraw, Scooby-Doo, Secret Squirrel, Snagglepuss, Snooper and Blabber, Speed Buggy, Tom and Jerry, Top Cat, Wacky Races and Yogi Bear.

The Hanna-Barbera Studios also adapted The Addams Family, brought Archie Comics characters to animation (including Josie and the Pussycats) and they brought various Marvel Comics (The Fantastic Four) and DC Comics (The Super Friends) heroes to cartoons also.

There's is no truer statement about these two gentlemen than, "they don't make 'em like this anymore"! William Hanna passed away in 2001 and Joseph Barbera passed away in 2006.

Their timeless cartoon creations will live and entertain kids of all ages forever.

You might be interested in my friend Patrick's site Chuck, he's a fantastic illustrator of the HB school. I hired him years ago to work with our company and he's churned out some of the greatest 60's styled art to ever grace our DVD releases. Check it out:
