The producers of the 2009 film adaptation of Alan Moore & Dave Gibbons DC Comics classic Watchmen have released a teaser photo of the in-comic precursor to the series main characters, The Minutemen of 1940. To me, only actress Carla Gugino is recognizable as the earlier version of "Silk Spectre"; the other actors may only be extras.
In my opinion, some of the costumes look a little amateurish, but overall they do reflect how the Minutemen appeared in the limited flashback sequences in which they were used in the original series. It remains to be seen how this type of thing is actually incorporated into the highly anticipated film.
(Left-to-Right) Silhouette, Mothman, Dollar Bill, Nite Owl, Captain Metropolis, Silk Spectre, Hooded Justice (and kneeling in front) The Comedian.

You may be right, but of course back in 1940 who was the professional superhero costume designer of the time? In my opinion hero costumes work better when they're at ultimate-cheese level supreme (like on a MEGO doll) vs the overblown designer baloney you see heroes wearing nowadays. Why does Batman even have to do morning crunches if his costume already has better abs than he does?
Oh, I agree with you all the way.
My complaint isn't that the costumes need to look more modern, like the god-awful-Batman-kevlar/armor, but that the Minutemen uniforms - while right overall - don't really look professionally made.
Now I guess that I'm the one who's nitpicking!
Silhouette: Grrrowrr!!
Silhouettte does look "good", but I've seen the original Silk Spectre naked!
Actress Carla Gugino showed us her "talents" in the comics-to-film adaptation of Frank Miller's Sin City.
Hope you were paying attention, too.
