Karth in "The Blue Gorilla" (Avon; 1952)

Here is a late golden age/early silver age blast from the past called “The Blue Gorilla” from White Princess of the Jungle #3 (May 1952); originally published by Avon and illustrated by Everett Raymond Kinstler. Karth, the titular blue gorilla of this neat backup strip, brings his preternatural strength to bear as he handily rescues Ann Borgman from a horrific death. This story appears courtesy of "Comic Book Plus" [formerly goldenagecomics.co.uk; please go donate to their worthy endeavor]. Note: The copyright for this issue, its contents and artwork belongs to the original publisher and/or the creators and is reproduced here solely for entertainment purposes. Enjoy!

Beyond the blue gorilla
Waits the beautiful babe.
Dodging the things that gore me,
Ann is waiting for me!
I see that d_mn'd gorilla!
My trials have only begun!
Beyond the blue gorilla
Kruger's got a gun!

(Sorry. I don't know what came over me. The jungle affects the mind in strange ways.)

I completely understand. That's generally how I feel about "gal" Friday!

FYI, the Blue Gorilla returned in issue #5. If the feature would have lasted longer, perhaps there would have been even more.
Thanks!

Darci, you are diligent in pointing to that other gorilla-centric story, but sadly after ferreting out the mystery myself, I have to err on the side of caution. "The King of the Gorillas" was the title of the latter tale from White Princess of the Jungle #5 (which was posted here in the Catacombs back in 2010). The ape in question is clearly referred to as Garth, not Karth, and while that might easily be overlooked, the color of his fur is different as well. In fact the lead heroine had undergone a name change since the earliest issues. "Taanda" had become "Tarinda" with no visible alteration in her four-color appearance, so perhaps confusion is the order of the day! Thanks for reading.

Chuck,
I wasn't referring to http://comicbookcatacombs.blogspot.com/2010/04/white-princess-of-jungle-in-king-of.html (although it's easy to see why you might have thought so (who'd guess there were two giant gorillas in that issue?)). See the last feature on http://www.comics.org/issue/251234/ "Return of the Blue Gorilla".
Thanks!

Darci, this is my bad and I'll defer to you on this one. After your latest reply, I checked my scan again. Apparently I don't have the full issue on this specific book, so "Return of the Blue Gorilla" has eluded me. Thanks for clearing this up!
